The Jolly Old Man in the Red Suit

We took Avery to see the famous man this time of year, Santa Claus, yesterday. As you can see in the picture she isn't so fond of him this year. :) We'll see what happens next year I guess!!

Happy 2 days til Christmas everyone! :)

Snow, Snow

This is what we woke up to Thursday morning....I guess more snow fell over night then we thought! Poor Matt is out there shoveling his little heart out....and no I'm not that bad of a wife....I did go out and help him, although he did most of it! :) There was no way either of us was going anywhere if we didn't shovel the driveway. I think the drift in front of the garage door was at least 3 feet! We have drifts in our back yard that are almost as high as our fence...and Sammi loves jumping around and getting buried in it! Everyone here is safe, thank goodness. Our friend Beth's parents are currently driving as we speak from CA to come see their new grandbaby! This little old snow storm wasn't stopping them. Since DIA (airport) is/was closed, the next flight out they could get was the 26th, so they decided to pack it up and head to WY. We'll be praying they make it safely!

We hope everyone else is doing well!

Dreaming of a White Christmas???

Well, the good news is, Matt, Avery and I get to spend some good quality time together. The bad news.....is that we have a blizzard!!!!!! Yikes! I left work early since the roads near our babysitters house were starting to close, and Matt wasn't too far behind. The base sent everyone home early as well as all the state offices. I could hardly see trying to pick up Avery, and was SOOOOO thankful we made it home safely. Any of you who have either lived or visited Cheyenne, you know how windy it can get. Well imagine 40-50mph wind gusts on top of heavy snow! It's crazy! I think this is the worst weather we've seen since we've been here. We just missed the snow storm of 2003. Well, to all of you who are enjoying nice weather, enjoy the pictures. You still don't get the full effect of the storm since I can't really capture the wind on my camera, but let your imagination run wild. (All of this is happening of course while our friends Sam and Brian are living in FL and Tim, Tammi and the boys are vacation in Disney World!!!!)

Caught in the act again!

Ah Hah!! Gotcha! For a little while, I thought Avery forgot about the drawer with all the kitchen towels.......as you can see by the photos below, I was quite wrong! haha It's the only drawer she's allowed in, so sometimes she takes definite advantage.

Zoo Lights

On Saturday, we headed down to the Denver area just to get out of town. We met our friends Heather and Kevin for some lunch at Flat Irons, then shopped a little and then headed to the Denver Zoo for the Zoo Lights. We were pleasantly surprised at how well Avery did since we left the house at 10:30am and did not get back until 9:00pm!

The Zoo Lights were well worth the drive and money to get in (only $14 total since Avery was free). There weren't as many animals out as usual obviously, and it was quite cold so I'm sure many of them were content to stay warm in their shelter. We did see elephants, tigers, hippos (pictured below), giraffes, a polar bear, snow leopards and a couple animals I can't remember. Avery barked at all the animals, since I think now that she knows a dog is an animal she thinks all animals are dogs! Ha Ha :) She's just too darn cute....we're thinking about keeping her. :) She had a great time looking at all the lights and seeing the animals. We grabbed a quick bite to eat and then headed back up to Cheyenne. Of course on the ride home our pooped out little munchkin took a good snooze and went straight to bed when we got home.

Funny Videos

This first video is not funny for the reason I first thought it would be. As you can see in the video, Avery is wearing one of my shoes. This is the reason I thought this would be amusing, however, it turns out that talking to Matt on the phone is a little more funny. I couldn't believe how long she stood there talking to him on the phone, telling him stories!!

This is just a short one of her walking in my shoe.

In this one, she somehow got a stacking cup, that her Aunt Michelle and Uncle Eric got her for her birthday :), stuck on her foot. Of course my laughing and video taping on the ordeal encouraged her just a little! Hee Hee Enjoy!

Christmas Crash

Avery's second Christmas is already proving to be a little more memorable than the last! She absolutely loves Christmas trees and lights, but of course is still not quite sure what to make of all of it. It's so fun to see her reaction to everything. This year will be the first year where we'll wait to bring out all the presents until Christmas Eve!

So as I was saying, this Christmas is proving to be more memorable...well as you can see in the picture below, we have now had to put a gate in front of our tree. The reason is this, as I am frantically making dinner, hoping Matt will be home soon because Avery is trying to stir up trouble, I have to keep shooing her away from our tree. I'm trying everything to coax her away. Well, all of a sudden it's very quiet and then.............CRASH!!! Avery succeeded in knocking over the tree! Luckily it fell onto our couch and not her. However, she did trip over the light cord, fell back against the wall while pulling out the cord from the socket. She was fine, a little scared...and no ornaments were broken. So I thought, all is well, I'll just have Matt put the tree back up when he gets home. Well, it turns out the base to the tree was broken! So it's now held together with gorilla glue and duct tape!! Thanks for saving our tree sweet pea! As you can see (maybe) in the picture, the tree is just a little crooked....you'd hardly be able to tell!! Next year, we'll be getting another.

Little Miss Claus

Here are some pictures of Avery in the cutest outfit ever! (At least I think so, however I am biased) :) We went to Matt's boss's Christmas Open House on Saturday so of course we had to dress Avery for the occasion. Thanks to Grandma Rose for sending this adorable Christmas outfit! As I've said before, it's becoming more and more difficult to get her to smile for the camera...right now she's more interested in the camera itself. I'll have to take a picture of our Christmas tree soon to show you all how we've had to decorate it. The top 1/4 of the tree is decorated as now Avery has discovered how cool Christmas trees are! HA HA

Enjoy the pics and thanks for stopping by!

This is just a random extreme close up of Avery...I've been trying to get a better shot of all her teeth. At least you can see some of the bottom ones. :)
